- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: _Every so often my Radio goes off and you have to switch it back on. Thanks,
A bit more info would be useful, like does it switch off whilst driving the car or whilst at a standstill engine off?
The reason I say this is my daily drivers radio turns off after a while when operated without the engine on, it’s to save the battery. I have an NC1 so my stock radio never had that function, NC2’s may have, not sure🤔
Tell the passenger to leave things alone!
Does it happen while playing loud?
Had a Nakamichi head unit with an amp installed in my Mk1 a few years back…still have it…it’s epic.
At the time the car had a limp Westco fitted and as soon as some combination eg pop-ups, heater, and the ICE was cranked up to say 30/40%, it spat the dummy and went off.
Sometimes the battery light came on …
I noticed when I put a fresh Panasonic battery in, it stopped.
Might be an idea to bench charge the battery properly and ensure it’s delivering factory volts before anything else.
Hi MickAP more info, it switches off when driving along the road then you just switch it back on and its ok for a while then it goes off for no reason, Dave
Scuttle gromets?
Never thought of that one, a possibility as the radio fused feed reside at the base of the A pillar.
Or it could be a connection (to the rear of the head unit) needs firmly pressing home. A previous owner may have had the head unit out and swapped it back.
