RAF MARHAM FAMILIES & FRIENDS DAY 2016

8TH JULY - THIS IS THE VERY LATEST UPDATE

First, a reminder about what to expect. This is a private event for the families (and their friends) who live and work on the Marham base. It is NOT open to the general public.

Norfolk Fives have been invited for the second year running, to be part of the Classic Car Display.

This year, RAF Marham are celebrating their 100th anniversary. The four hour (!) flying display should include the Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Typhoon & Spitfire Synchro Pair, F-15, parachute display by the RAF Falcons, and much much more. On the ground there should be Provost, Chinook, Typhoon, Hawk, F-35 full size model, three flight simulators, RAF and USAFE military equipment displays, and more.

I suggest that you might like to bring chairs, camera and binoculars. A picnic if you want, but there are plenty of catering stands. And be prepared for rain - it is July.

Just like last year, we will be raising money for the Norfolk Fives’ charity - BIG-C. But this year, we are asking for a minimum donation of £10 per head. This can be done in two ways:-

1. via our Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/NORFOLKFIVES2016 where you will also be able to enhance your donation by using Gift Aid, or

2. At our meeting point, before entering the base.

For those who live to the west, there is a small amount of space at the entrance to the Swaffham Raceway. Please arrive there by 0900 for a briefing and departure, joining the Longwater group at about 0915. You will be able to leave the base after 1630.

As you already know, security will be thorough! You must bring the identity document you used in your security application. Your Passport (for each of you) is the best document to bring. Otherwise, bring your Driving Licence, a Council Tax bill and a utility bill. Originals only - copies are not acceptable.

Can you please confirm that you have seen this, that it is correct, and whether you will be at Longwater (preferred) or Swaffham.

There’s a lot to deal with here - but I can promise you a fantastic day!

P.S. If you’re new to this thread, please note that we are unable to add any more names to the event. The deadline for security checks passed some weeks ago.

Many thanks Mavis and Richard

It’s on the A47 to the west of Norwich. William Frost Way NR5 0JS. We will be on the right hand side of the ramp that runs down to the petrol station. MacDonalds is on the left hand side.

Many thanks for that and also the postcode, will meet up there on the 21st.

Everything clear and understood

Kind regards

Mavis and Richard
