Hi All,
Just wondered if anyone’s got any tips on T-Cutting? All I’ve been told is to wash the panel before hand and to use a vigorous circular motion.

Just be careful with it otherwise you’ll be down to the undercoat.
Make sure you use a good quality wax to seal the paintwork afterwards.
My advice is don’t use it unless you really have to .There are other far less agressive things out there.
Thanks, for the advice. What’s a good alternative to T-Cut that’s less aggressive then?

Autoglym Super Resin Polish is good. What is it you’re trying to rectify?
Thank, I’m just try to cover up some minor scratches and generally shine the car up!
super resin will do minor surface scratches .(Maguiars scratch ex is good for getting things that are not too deep (i.e only in the top coat )
I use Quixx scratch remover (off Ebay) for surface scratches then AG Super Resin Polish, then a high quality carnauba wax to finish and protect
The paint on a 5 is very thin and T-Cut will go through it very easily, if you want to do machine polishing on a budget try a Silverline polisher for about 50 quid will do very well with Meguiar’s Ulimate compound for the scratches and swirls then AG Polish and followed by AG High definition wax, will give you a good finish and will last for a few months, after washing give it a going over with Meguiar’s detailing spray and the shine will reappear.
Nice work Janitor but for covering up light scratches (without the investment of specialist equipment) I think SRP should be OK for the OP’s needs.
From what I’ve read it contains ‘fillers’ as well as being a mild abrasive so should be ideal for a general spruce up of tired paintwork.

I’ve used Mer scratch remover with great success and finished off with SRP. Especially good results under the door handles which had quite bad surface marks.
Thanks All! I was about to get some Auto-Glym yesterday but the bloke in the car spares shop recommended a T-Cut kit, which was made up of the usual T-Cut in 1 bottle n a Sealer in another. Looking like it’s gonna need another coat, but so far so good! Like the idea of polishin by machine n there’s a couple of deepish scratches on the rear bumper so I might give that a go at some point!
Faracla G3 is a better alternative to T-cut as it is a professional bodyshop product (about to go mainstream) and contains a polish as well as cutting compuond, as others have commented, over use will result in seeing primer through your paint…
