Ready for supercharging - Parts check!

Spent the last 3 days sorting the garage and getting ready for fitting the supercharger… I reckon I’ve got all the parts needed!

That looks good, is that the “Salon” kit? I was thinking of doing similar as I have almost unused, MINI Cooper supercharger from a previous project.

I’d advise that you make sure the blower lubricant is regularly changed because it works very hard! If you can find it, BP Turbo 2380 oil is very good for the job. According to one supercharger specialist I spoke to, (an ex helicopter engineer), it’s better than the factory oil and far less expensive.

You missed 2 bits.

Have we got to tell you everything?

Hello! Yes the Salon kit is in there amongst all the other bits.
my supercharger was from a new mini that had the JCW upgrade… so has only delivery miles on it. Cheers for the tip on the lube! I was a bit worried about the oversize pulley from BOFI over-spinning it!

Sorry, yep… I’m obviously still a newbie! I need that mug!

My supercharger has an identical history. It came with the brand new cylinder head and cams, fuel injectors and exhaust system! I only wanted the blower but it turned out to be too big for the project I bought it for.

From what I subsequently learned, the JCW supercharger was the same thing, apart from a smaller pulley, to make it spin a bit faster and increase the boost.

I read somewhere that the JCW version had teflon coated blades so the smaller pulley explains why…
Have you read much about having a dual throttle body setup?

The “standard” factory blower in my garage has Teflon rotors. Tbh I thought all the BMW Mini ones did.

I never fitted mine but I did fit a smaller Eaton 24 blower to my Suzuki engined Liege (originally designed for the VW Polo TSi). I only used a single throttle body to control that (fitted upstream of the blower) and it worked quite well.

I bought that bofi boost pipe with dv and iat take off on it then realised I never looked at the back side of my intercooler and there was a nice hole for an iat :upside_down_face: straight pipe back on
