Facebook throwing a wobbly on me but I believe it is the pair of upper bushes that go on each side.

It’s the 2 per side spherical bearings (not bushes) that wear because there is a fault with the rubber seals. Currently Andy is the only one making replacement bearings.

I dont think you have any hope of getting that done under warranty from a Mazda dealer. The car is seven years old. If you purchased the car from a Mazda dealer you might have an argument but i believe you bought it from an independent garage and unless you purchased a warranty you will struggle to get any recompense . If you are really lucky if you pay for the parts they might pay for the Labour …good luck .

The mazda dealer i use said to get mazda to contribute to the cost after the warrenty expires, it has to 1. Be bought from a mazda dealership and 2. Been serviced by mazda.
I had aksed them to check mine as its about to be 3 years old. Ok it has only 13k on it, but the roads i drive on are pretty hard on cars, gotta love lincolnshire.

Hi guys

I think you’re right I do have a years warranty with the car that runs out next month garage told me it was rear hubs that were away but judging with the comments on the forum it looks like it could be the 2 bearings that need replaced so not really sure if the warranty would cover this

I have contacted Andy Leslie who sells the bearings the car is at a mechanic on Saturday to check and make sure it’s the bearings that are knackered before I buy them

Hi guys

Anyone know if bearings are covered on your warranty or will they just say it’s wear and tear

Cheers Gazza

If it was a new car with a 3 year Manufacturer’s warranty I’d fully expect it to be covered under the warranty, as soon as you start adding extended or 3rd party warranty into the mix the chances of getting it fixed significantly drop. In my experience with Mazda, getting anything repaired even under the 3 year warranty was an argument but one they ultimately lost when provided with a TSB or after I got in touch with Customer Services, for that reason I wouldn’t waste any money on extended warranties.

Out of interest what is the cost of the 4 bearings and tool from Andy Leslie; I’m sure others would be interested.
I did look at his facebook page and hunted around but information not jumping out at me.

Hi

£475 for the bearings and £100 for the tool I was quoted £1400 to replace the rear hubs but it seems like it’s just the bearings that are knackered so u don’t have to replace everything so for me quite a good price

Thanks Gazza

Are these your hubs?
That looks like say £850 with post for two.
I assume the hub would need to be completely removed from the car to change out the bearings?
I suppose that price for the bearings, etc is acceptable if it completely resolves a problem that new Mazda hubs would not.

Hi rhino

It seems there are 2 bearings on each side of the rear hubs these are the Mazda faulty ones Andy Leslie supplies 4 bearings 2 for each side these bearings are the ones that don’t seem to last and are prone to fail I have my car booked in with a mechanic on Saturday I will post my outcome

  1. Write direct to Mazda UK to reject the car under the Sale of Goods Act as unfit for purpose as this is a known design fault. Ask for a full refund of purchase price. It’s worth paying your solicitor to do this and asking them to cover that cost too.

  2. Do Not Write In Upper And Lower Case As It Is Difficult To Read.

With the tool Andy supplies the hub doesn’t need to be removed to replace the bearings, hence a good saving in labour costs or if like me you are quite handy it means you can do it yourself at home.

On a 2015 car that was bought from a 3rd party dealer? Good luck with that.
