Rear lights not operating

  1. My model of MX-5 is: mk3
  2. I’m based near: Chelmsford
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: when i turn on my lights, the headlights work, but the dash doesnt, more importantly neither do the rear tailights. Sometimes light up after a minute or 2. Any ideas please?

Classic water leaking from the scuttle gromets and causing random electrical gremlins.

No the carpet is dry-dealt with that issue a while ago!

Do the front sidelights work? What sometimes lights up after a minute or 2, the dash lights or the tail lights or both?

The dash & tail lights come on (sometimes) after a few seconds, sometimes longer. Now you mention it, not sure about front sidelights, will check tomorrow.

Have you checked the fuse, maybe a dirty connection etc. looking on this diagram I found, this may all be related to the same fuse.

So did you look at the fguses and have you sorted the problem please. I have a similar problem with rear lights and instrument panel OK - front sidelights not!

Hi, cleaned up the relevant fuse, seemed to cure the issue…
Certainly worth you trying too!

Hi. Thanks for the thought, cleaned fuse - no different. New fuse , no different. But all rear lights and instrument lights working perfectly! Auto electrician now booked (I had hoped top avoid the expense!)
