Rear Strut Brace Touches Body

Hello!

Does anyone own the IL Motorsports rear strut brace? I bought a used one and after installing it I noticed it touches the body. Is this normal or did I buy a faulty one?

Need photo to illustrate what you mean. The mounting brackets are sided.

Yes, the brackets are fine. Is the bar itself. It rests against the body, where the gas tank is behind that trunk wall.

Can you install the mounts on the wrong sides? If so, would that affect the fore and aft position of the bar?

Provided you have ruled out putting the brackets on wrongly, and have followed ILM’s instructions:

If its just touching the metal, I would first try a bit of foam in between, or, failing that, grind a bit off the bar, and use washers to space the bar backwards.
