Recaro seats: questions

H there,

I have been looking at a 2016 Sport Nav and also a 2016 Sport Recaro.

I know that they are both essentially the same car but wanted to ask for your help to understand the recaro seats a little more.

  • Does anyone know if these seats are available as an aftermarket option
i.e. can I buy them from a dealer / website and fit them to a sport nav myself?

  • I know this will be personal opinion but are they as comfortable as the standard seat after a 45min / 1hour journey?

Thanks in advance for posting your advice, thoughts and comments

Richard.

As far as I’m aware they are not available separately, people in the states seem to manage to get them from crashed cars but I suspect the number of crashed cars over there is by far more significant than over here so don’t fancy your chances of getting any.

I believe they are more of a re-trimmed Recaro seat rather than a specific Recaro seat so I don’t think you could even buy them from Recaro themselves.

For me, the Recaro comes with the full body kit, better wheels, the seats (obviously) but is also more limited, I can’t see why anyone would buy a Sport Nav over one given the choice and availability.

I’ve sat in standard seats but not for any real period of time, I can’t see any reason why the Recaros would be any less comfortable (as long as you aren’t particularly big as the bolster (especially on the driver’s side is more snug) but mine is a driver’s car and when pushing on that’s exactly what you want.  Mine is used 99% of the time as a drivers car, but I have done a couple of long (250mile+) motorway journeys with no issues.

Been looking for a pair now for 3 years to stick on my Mk3.5. Hens teeth are easier to find…
