I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __
Hi I’m looking at fitting a stereo that has Apple CarPlay - I’m looking to spend £300/350 and I’m a bit of an old school Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine type guy. I’m not bothered about cd/dvd or sat nav and the difference screen size of 6.8 to 7 doesn’t bother me. Any recommendations/experiences would be appreciated as there are that many model numbers these days it’s quite confusing (I’ve already ordered the connects2 kit)
I installed this below, very pleased with it and surprisingly good with Waze navigation. I run Android Auto and it seems pretty good, also tried it on Apple Carplay too equally as good.
The unit has a shorter chassis, makes for an easy fit behind the dash, it can get a little cramped in there with all the cables and connectors with the standard size units.
Shop around, the one below may not be the best price now, mine was sub £300 pre Xmas last year, no rear camera.
Sorry, was going to post a photo but my laptop won’t upload from my phone.
I had a Pioneer FH-X840DAB fitted to my NC earlier this year for £250 all in. Considered a touchscreen one but think the LED fascia on this one suits the car better, is more intuitive and about £100 cheaper - still uses the steering wheel controls as well.
Works brilliantly with my iPhone - plays my music library and does hands free phone calls - + Spotify/CD/DAB radio. All in all, a lovely bit of kit at a good price
Just fitted the pioneer and can’t seem to get any sound out of it. It’s receiving the dab signal and the the steering wheel controls are working and I have the proper lead for the Bose system so I’m at a bit of a loss ?
Has anyone got any ideas ?? (The stereo I’ve taken out i pressure is the original as it says Bose On the front but the sticker inside says manufactured by clarion - but stuck at the moment so any help would be appreciated
Looks like it’s the pink amp power that needs some power to it - isn’t the search tool brilliant
Only issue I have is I don’t seem to have a power out on the head unit Pioner spa DH230 - in the old days I would just chip it into the ignition live as it’s only a switch live anyway (in theory)
All Sorted it was the blue and white live switch from the amp - it’s years since I’ve been swapping stereos around and it all came back to me. The head unit is “different gravy” and the sound quality through the standard Bose amp and standard speakers is more than good enough. The head unit works perfectly with the phone and I’ve been dictating WhatsApp messages and all sorts this afternoon. Next job is the more serious issue of sorting the minor rust issues out then fitting the cobra exhaust and then fitting the Meister CRD coilers I accidentally bought yesterday
