Just got some silicone hoses. Is there any specific type of hose clip recommended / not recommended? Also any tips ie tightness, fitting or anything else to watch out for etc?
The standard sprung clips are the best. Not jubilee type as you could over tighten. But others might say differany.
A friend of mine used Mikelor on the silicone hoses in his Yaris. They work well and don’t “pinch” in the way of standard Jubilee clips. You cen get them from “proper” tuning/race prep places* or e-bay.
Hope that helps,
Alan

I recommend DPHSPORT on eBay, they sell T-bolts that I’ve replaced every clamp and clip with as they’re so good.
They’re cheap(ish), look good, quality and don’t pinch. Better than jubulee clips as they have a bolt to tighten rather than a screwdriver slot that just gets chewed up.

They definitely look like the best for the job but to do all 9 hoses would cost about £40. Just spent about £450 on hoses, water pump, radiator, timing belt kit, clutch slave, leads, filters etc and feeling a bit skint at the moment.
What opinions are there regarding using the original spring clips on the silicone hoses, bearing in mind they have a slightly larger outside diameter than the rubber ones?
I did fit the OE spring clips on after first changing all the hoses, then opted for the T-bolts afterwards.
I bought a box of 10 of the (I think) 32-35mm bolts that fit the majority of the hoses - it was cheaper to buy bulk than singularly. I’ll check when I go outside.
More than happy to chuck some in the post to you, I don’t need them.
That’s the same style I was talking about.
No offence, but if you’ve just spent that much on hoses then a 10% investment not to ruin them all seems okay to me. Its not cheap, but then neither were what you’ve fitted them to.
HTH,
Alan

They look very similar to ones I have seen on aircraft and …helicopters
Lol!
Top quality.

ahem…
Found some t-bolt clamps on offer from Mr Silicone on the bay. They sell a brand called ASH. Just got a question re sizes. I called them but they couldn’t really advise me .
For instance the rad hoses have an outside diameter of 40mm uninstalled. The choice of clamp size is 36-39mm or 40-43mm. Is there any lee way on these? Never used t-bolt clamps before. They seem to have a very small adjustment of about 3mm.

Lol!
