I have seen some companies offering a reconditioned engine, which mostly comes down to a reconditioned block, for 1250 including fitment. Compared to prices over here that seems very cheap. The concerning companies have good reviews though. What do you guys think, is it too good to be true?

You mean like:
Scottish company, but reviews make them sound like “Heathrow Engineering”:

The attractive price is based on your engine being “serviceable”, which is “unknown” until they strip, and then tell you its not, and bill you extra. Heathrow Engineering’s scam was for them to tell you your engine is no good, and they dump it it, in pieces, in the boot of your car, giving you the “option” of going elsewhere, or paying their “core” charge.
There is a the Federation of Engine Remanufacturers, which is supposed to be the trade association for bone fide engine reconditioners. Probably a good place to start.
This might be more realistic:

Prices like Kentmx5’s are more comparable with where I live.
So Vertex are promising fitting and reconditioned, with
all for £1250.
Frankly, I don’t believe they can be making a living at that.
“Vertex Automotive” was set up in July 2019, so a new company. Operating from the premises of Rainham Motors, next door to a second tyre place.
Mansfield Motors also at same site. Has some terrible reviews. Common names appear for both in Companies House (Akbar Khan, 6 Woodstock Road, runs Vertex, Akbat Khan, 6 Woodstock Road, used to run Mansfield Motors). Both businesses seem to be the same.
I wouldn’t deal with them, unless they actually show me the engine they are selling.
In the UK a recon NC engine is between £2000 to £3000 pounds. You can buy a car for that ! Buy it and take it over to your own country, swap the engine and then break it.
It seems that they only fit new rings and bearing shells. Not my idea of a reconditioned engine. I would expect a rebored block with new pistons and a re ground crank with new shells and thrust washers. Caveat Emptor!
I doubt they even do that.
Jet wash of a scrapyard engine, and some paint job done.
