Red Carpet Faded is there a solution??

hi

yh so what the title says, i was thinking about buying a mx5 red carpet from an old Eunos Roadster S, but it looks faded or in the process of fading, and im thinking there must be some kind of dye i could rub in to bring back the rich red and also to preserve the colour for longer any suggestion guys?

Car

You can get a dye, but my bet is that it just needs a good clean.

thanks i’ll most likely try some carpet cleaner or suming before i put it in and give a full valet and see how it looks

Every once in a while I power wash my drivers carpet and, then scrub it with 1001 carpet shampoo and then power wash it again to get rid of the shampoo. Ps I only do it on a really warm drying day.

Obviously, power washing with a hose is a lot easier on a non-fitted carpet. Buy a VAX.

If it’s really bad a couple of hundred gets a new one

Where are you going to get a brand new looped/twist pile red carpet for £200? The black twist pile from MX5parts is £272, and thats just the main bit. Newton want £225 for their aftermarket black set, which looks a lot like the thin felt carpet. Other suppliers supply carpet in non-moulded pieces; not particularly satisfactory. I’d be surprised in new S-Limited/R-Limited carpet is still available from Mazda for £200.
