That’s the sort of colour I was thinking of!
They do look good. I’m tempted by the bronze myself so if you do yours can you post a photo please?
Will do, although I am now leaning towards the gunmetal, I can’t deny that it does look very neat. Decisions, decisions…..
Well, thought I’d update….
I caved and went with a gunmetal finish. It’s a bit darker than I was expecting but I’m sure it’ll grow on me! Just need to give the car a good wash to match the new wheels, along with new lug nuts and centre caps ![]()
Many thanks all for your help and suggestions
And an old photo for comparison:
Very nice.
It might not be to everyone’s taste, but if you painted the background on the centre caps the same as the car body colour it could help pick out the wheel colour.
If you are replacing the centre caps, you’ll have the old set to experiment with. With some versions of centre caps the chrome M can be removed non-destructively, making the painting of the body much easier. But Murphy’s Law says yours are in one piece.
The pads and discs were put on not that long ago, it’s not really done much long distance recently (university and all that!)
I’ll definitely have a look tho at some point, no advisories on its MOT a few weeks ago so, probably just haven’t been driving it enough ![]()
I was going to mention the wheel centres too; they do look incongruous now with the dark wheels. I sprayed mine black (plasticote) some time ago for my black NC. Also had the wheels powder coated gunmetal grey more recently.
It’s a wheels off job but the caps just push out easily, then put them in hot water to reduce the brittleness of the silver “M" and push through the little tabs holding them to detach so you can spray the background.
Was definitely thinking they were due a change.
Might try that with either black or copper red paint like @RichardFX suggested
There’s a few other bits and pieces on the car along with my other car that need painting, so might get them all off and do them at the same time when I get chance over winter
Was thinking of doing the roll hoops, and the chrome around the grille black, and the centre dash vent bit copper red. Shall see how bored I get

You can buy black centre caps from eBay for around the £10 mark depending on the length of the fixing lugs (there are two different lengths).
