Refurbishing NC OEM Wheel colour choice!

Hi all, needing a bit of advice, I’ve got a buckle in 2 of my wheels so I am opting to get them refurbished, the trouble is, what colour?

The car is copper red and I have been considering bronze as I’ve seen some aftermarket wheels in that colour that look nice, but I’m wondering if anyone has changed the colour on their own OEM wheels to bronze and has a photo or two?

Open to other colour suggestions too (currently gunmetal, which I am also considering)

Many thanks all!

Been there done that also on a copper red NC. In the end I went for BMW Ferric grey. I’d post a photo of them on the car but it all went wrong and the finish is not good to put it politely so they haven’t gone on the car. :rage:

Aw no! Sorry to hear that! :frowning:

Do you have a photo of a wheel (preferably the best one!)? Just so I can see what it would look like as a Google search isn’t coming up with anything apart from gold!

I’m putting Kawasaki green wheels on my Skoda Superb, have KTM orange wheels on our VW T4, and had Cambridge United amber wheels on our Honda Civic. My vibe, go wild!

How is your imagination? I did put one on the car to try but without a tyre which looks odd. The first two photos are the same wheel but the second one is under artificial lighting. I can take another photo of just the wheel in the daylight tomorrow if you would like one.

This was one that inspired me to go grey.

Or there’s black

I decided black would show the curb scrapes more than the grey.

Don’t Cambridge United play in yellow & black?

(Posted in memory of Cambridge United steward and mate of mine, Craig Allan).

Hi.. I went for this on my Copper Red.. 17” OEM Sports.. really complement and almost deepen the overall colour of the paint..
gunmetal satin, almost Anthracite.. New black lugs and centre caps to finish it off..

Beat me to it…

I knew the car was on here somewhere but couldn’t remember where.

That is blasphemy…

(Although we do, inexplicably, chant ‘Yellow Team!’ but…)

On a serious note, AI is your friend here. I uploaded a photo of our Skoda and asked it to to put Kawasaki Green Audi 5-spoke alloys on. Got to see how wonderful it’s going to look before I committed to getting the wheels done that colour. You could do the same with your car, just choose different wheel colours and designs.

I agree with you on the black wheel choice

I wonder if it would be possible to get the bronze finish slightly darker on mine, as the artificial light photo makes it look really nice!

Thank you very much for sharing!

Gold? I searched Copper red Mx-5 NC when I was looking for colours.

I’d probably go for these shown above, they go with the copper red…

I went with Stealth Copper.

Black Bronze (But not on an NC, clearly)

I agree with MickAP - the slightly darker silver/gunmetal is an excellent choice.

Avoid any kind of gloss black wheels, they always look too strange when the wheel is darker than the tyre.

Thanks all for your suggestions and help! I do really like the gunmetal, but wondering if it would look good to have this colour of wheels, but as the oem alloy (if that makes sense!). was wondering if anyone has done anything remotely close to this, as they are currently gunmetal and was thinking about a change! Definitely a difficult decision to make!!

They look good but I can’t work out if they are a dark grey with the light reflecting off them or if they are a gold colour. Maybe it’s just me!
I spent ages trying to choose a colour and I’m still not sure.

Are they bronze?
