My soft top is a bit faded in places and I was wondering if there is any way to get it back to something like the original black colour?
There are loads. I did the three-stage thing on my old NC - Renovo soft top cleaner, Renovo soft top reviver in black (don’t spill it anywhere, it makes a right mess!), and Fabsil Gold to proof it.
Looked brilliant when I’d finished.

I agree with Greem. Remove and Fabsil works a treat!
I know it’s the wrong time of year to say this but do not do it in direct summer sun as it drys the proofer too quickly and leaves the canvas ‘crispy’ and bobbly.

Have used both Renovo vinyl and Mohair cleaner/revivers and proofers with great results, the plastic window polish also works a treat.

I only just bought the car (new club member) and cleaned and proofed the top with Autoglym last week but it still looks in need of sprucing up so will try the Renovo option as you suggest
