Remove seat belt annoying chime

Hi is there a way to unplug the seat belt chime I can’t stand it anymore. I actually wear my belt but put it on pulling off

That’s kind of the point of it. Just put your belt on before you start the car :man_shrugging:

I have said I wear my seatbelt in the post. I have to move cars around on my drive so I don’t put my belt on plus I reverse into my work carpark and it still beeps in reverse I am not saying I want to drive without the belt on just want to disable the beeping

Also in the case of carrying something heavy on the passenger seat, one has to remember to do the seat belt up, or be distracted by the chime.

Which generation of MX-5 are we talking about here? You’ve left that bit blank!

I read a while back that is can be done using FORSCAN

LONG-TERM DEACTIVATION
To deactivate the belt minder long-term, change the configuration of the Instrument Cluster using WDS.

  1. Identify the vehicle, and make sure the vehicle specification screen appears.
  2. Select “Module Programming” and press tick.
  3. Select “Programmable Parameters” then “Warning Lamps/Chimes” and press tick.
  4. Select “Belt Minder” – IC (Instrument Cluster)” then “Disabled” and press tick.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and press tick.
  6. Verify operation.
