Removing ceramic coating

I purchased my black NC1 sport back in 2020 and since then it has had a few coats of ceramic spray products, initially Meguiars and later Turtle Wax, with a bit of top-up added to most washes in between.
Over time I’ve managed to seal in a fair few drying marks, so what I’d like to do is remove all the gunk I’ve added and take it back to the initial paint, then give it a light cut to restore the colour and start again from there.
I’ve no experience of doing this sort of thing and on a budget so not looking to hand it over to a professional service but would welcome any advice from the knowledgeable folk here.
Is there a product which will help with the ceramic coat removal, or is it a case of using abrasives and knowing when to stop?
I’m not looking for perfection here; the car is a daily driver in decent condition rather than a fair-weather princess. Also I’m in an area with water restrictions for the foreseeable future so hosepipes and pressure washers are out of the question.

Would something such as this (eBay link) be useful for occasional use - specced as 700W, 600-3700RPM off-load, or is it a throw-away price for a throw-away item and I should pay for a more quality item?

If the car’s paintwork is not showing signs of water beads after a normal wash then chances are that the ceramic spray is no longer on there.

You could try using Bilt Hamber Cleanser Fluid as preparation for light polishing to remove any further ceramic spray as well as contaminants.

If you actually have a ceramic coat then perhaps some aggressive polishing might be required.

Nah that will be naff, invest in a decent das6 polisher and some menzerna compounds

Garage Therapy decon shampoo is a good product designed to remove old waxes etc and is worth having on the shelf.
I would invest in a DAS6 machine too from somewhere like clean your car.

DoDo juice…Lime Prime

If you really want the ceramic fine, autoglym super resin polish will remove it.

Thanks for the replies all. I’ve decided to spend a bit more on a polisher and will take on board the advice offered.
Water does still bead on the car. I’ve been topping up with each wash so I will need to go beyond that to get down to the clearcoat.
So it sounds like a wash with a decon shampoo (maybe a going over with a clay bar too?) then carefully with a medium cutting compound and finishing with the Autoglym polish which many people appear to recommend.

Yeah seems a reasonable idea, super resin is mostly a glaze so after polish, top with your favourite wax or a ceramic coating.

Use the decon shampoo as your clay lube, much better. You can buy a clay mitt which makes it even easier.

Thanks. I’ve not come across a clay mitt before. Looks good, especially in conjunction with the shampoo as you suggest.

The farecla g3 mitt is very good.
