  1. My model of MX-5 is: Eunos
  2. I’m based near: UK__
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Rear brake disk removal

Hi,
I have been trying to remove a brake disk from my Eunos, with heat,

2Lb hammer, spray, and a home made clamp. any other ideas please?
Cheers, Camerart

Use a bolt?

Warm up the centre of the disc around the hub with a blow torch to expand it, tighten up your clamp and strike the disc around the centre bore, or use the bolt method. I assume they are being changed so using the hammer hard isn’t an issue so possibly try again simply trying to knock the disc off the hub when it’s been heated.

Hi J,
Thanks for your reply, but you will see in my post, heat and spray was used, plus the hammer, for an hour or two, so something more violent I think?
Cheers, C

Use a bolt. It will work, super easy, barely an inconvenience. You can use the bolt that sused for the jack or sparewheel, maybe with some vice grips.

Hi S,
That worked, thanks :grinning:
Having said that, I had to spray and heat for a while, before it worked, plenty of penetrating oil, may be needed for stubborn disks.
Cheers, C.
