Repair mx5 2008 roof motor

Hello everyone just wondering if anyone knows of a garage to repair the roof mechanism and alignment in the Lancashire area near to Preston. There is wear on the drivers side cogs and the beep won’t turn off. I would be great full for any recommendations. Adrian

Not in Preston but Carl at CBS Auto’s in Nelson is an MX5 specialist

Thanks for the reply I’ve tried there but he doesn’t deal with hard top roofs and advised a main dealer the route I don’t want o go down if possible .

This doesn’t say anything about alignment when removing the roof.

This wear usually happens because the chrome-dome Allen screws have worked loose. See the owners manual about the emergency roof raising and lowering for their location etc.

See how I tightened mine a couple of times when they loosened off, and a touch of MEDIUM Loctite stops them loosening while still allowing intentional removal. That thread goes on a bit and covers more info on the roof system as well including links.

Thanks for your help but the cog is quite worn and the mechanisms needs replacing any ideas where I can buy a second hand unit ?

Send these people an email. I have used them on several occasions and are very helpful. They know MX5s very well. They strip them to race.
