I’m about to attempt replacing the radiator in a Mk1 1800 MX-5. Is this a relatively easy job? Does anyone have any tips or advice before I start?
WD40 the lower radiator bolts in particular at least 24 hours before you start to romove them. Check that the hoses to the radiator are ok before starting. Try to start the job early in the week so if you do need something that is broken etc, you can order it from MX-5Parts before 3.00pm and you will get the parts the next morning, assuming they have them in stock.
See here, only difference on the MK1 is the radiator mounts are 2 12mm bolts about 1/3rd of the way down on each side of the radiator and the fan is secured with 2 bolts at the bottom instead of the pegs.
