Replacing overhead cabin light in ND

My cabin light bulb keeps dying. I want to replace with an LED, but can’t find anything on Google that’s compatible with the ND. Any suggestions for bulbs that work would be very welcome (LED or otherwise).

You need to work out why it keeps dying before slotting an LED in.

I have these in my car, one in the cabin, one in the boot, they are directional so if they don’t seem to work turn them around.

There is a Mazda LED kit, I’ve got this fitted to mine and never had any problem:

I did a quick forum search on replacing cabin lights and found a few people who had electrical problems after switching. Is there anything I need to do before swapping the bulb, like disconnecting the battery? The MX5 manual makes it sound straightforward and doesn’t mention disconnecting the battery.

I want to check the fuse at the same time but, oddly, there appear to be two different fuses for the overhead light, with different ratings. They are numbers 7 and 26 in the engine compartment fuse block.

If the car is still in warranty I would get the dealer to look at repeated bulb failure.

I didn’t disconnect the battery before changing the bulb, and I managed to get the LED’s the wrong way round first time too.

It’s just out of warranty. The bulb has only failed twice, so I’ll try a replacement and see if it fails a third time - then will definitely get it checked.

Hi
I purchased the Mazda LED upgrade kit mentioned above. Easy five minute upgrade and no problems. Much improved lighting.

Cheers
