- My model of MX-5 is: NC1 2008 - retractable hard top.
My car is the poverty spec model. I would like to replace the seats with some leather covered ones from a later NC.
Will seats from later models fit without issue in the first one?
Thanks in anticipation
they do fit but you have to do a modification to get the seat heaters to work by use of a resistor connected to the extra two wires the 3.5 /3,75 seats
Straight swap in terms of fitment, good point about the seat heaters.
You might also find you sit a little higher. If I recall, the NC1 fabric seats are the lowest positioned of all NC factory examples.
Thank you. Good point - I hadn’t considered that.
Are door cards interchangeable as well?
You could fit the heated leather seats from an NC1 sport.
They would be a direct fit and connect to the heater connectors.

It appears lots of people swap from nc1 door cards to later ones without the knee basher/cup holder so yes. They seem quite expensive as a result of being a sought after upgrade.
Thanks all. Replacement stone grey seats now in my possession.

door cards will fit but you really need the mk3.5 back cards for them to fit without cutting the back cards
I’m a tad confused now. This is what I have (they look better now after some tlc). I’ve not taken the old ones off the car as yet. Is there something else that should be on the back of these?
Any way to tell is these are from a 3.5?
For entertainment purposes, I’m going to the local Mazda dealer tomorrow to see how much they want for the missing handle piece as shown. I suspect it’s too much to hope that the NC1 handle will fit.
Yes they are NC2/NC3 door cards. The bottle holder is flush and you have the doc wallet under the arm rest.
If you look at what is fitted in your NC1 you will see the bottle holder sticks out from the door card.
I understand the difference between NC1 cards and these, but scorpes in his post above referred specifically to 3.5 door card - hence my question.
I think scorps was referring to the mk3.5 inner door cards to save you having to modify the mk3 inner door cards to make those new door cards fit.
Ah, thank you. This is helpful. Not mentioned at all in the Haynes Manual which I’m finding to be pretty useless.
Having just looked, pleasantly surprised to see these things don’t cost the earth.
I use the haynes for some info but I find this site very good

yeh thats it the inner door cards otherwise you would have to cut them for the cupholder to fit and the screw in theca recess won’t line up
Just an update with some supplementary questions thrown in:
From your last comment, can I just check you are saying that if I docut the back card to allow for the cup holder, the screw holes will not line up?
The inner door card you posted details at at MX5 Heaven are the NC1 type. I foolishly thought the NC2/3 versions would be around the same money. This was my first mistake.
I rang a local MX5 breaker today. They had one in stock - asking £125 for it!
I rang the local Mazda dealer - £158 each - none in stock across UK - would have to be ordered in from Europe.
I asked about the plastic half of the pull handles- as marked in the earlier photo. Only £68 each - none in stock in UK - would have to be ordered in from Europe.
Based on these prices, unless modifying the existing card is viable, I will have to stick with the originals.
Pleased with the seats though
These say 3.5 ( NC2 )
Just make sure your front speakers are OVAL ( Std system ) rather than ROUND ( Bose system )
Many thanks for this. I had tried eBay but must have searched with the wrong words!
