Does anyone know if it is possible to dismantle the wing mirrors on a NC mk3.5 so that can be resprayed a different colour…??
I know new wing mirrors are available at mx5 parts but at £150 a side I’d prefer to try a respray myself…

I’m pretty sure the painted cap should have some ‘lugs’ on to enable you to remove it alone without touching any mechanisms etc. also you should be able to buy new ones a lot less expensive than the figure you have had. Is that the price for the full mirror not just cap? I fancied some black ones for my ND and paid £85 for the pair.
I don’t think the mirror caps come off, at least they don’t on the NC1.
Yes, you have to paint the whole housing. You need to mask the black plastic inner (this can be eased slightly apart) and best to remove the whole mirror from the door. You can do it in situ, but it makes it very awkward.
Thanks all…
My main concern was if the mirror housing holding the mirror can be detached from the bracket that holds it to the door…??
If I’m going to do it myself I want to try and do a proper job and spray all parts separately and then put back together before putting back on the car…
Seen a few used examples on eBay but even they are going for £100…
No, the housing and bottom (swivel) base cannot be separated. You need to prep all the surfaces that will be painted, mask up the black inner mirror section and then turn the base 90 degrees to get the best overall coverage.
