Im a new member so excuse me if I’m not posting in the right place as I’m still trying to get familiar with all the control panel options…
I have a 2013 MX5 with a Hard Top retractable roof that is not coming down…it seems to be stuck on the drivers side.
I have had it plugged into a computer and the fault says “ B296A Right Roof Motor Rotation Speed Sensor Circuit Open Or Short To Ground” but the garage guy said I needed to go onto the owners club forum to see if anyone can advise what replacement part I may need to buy to have installed…
Is there anyone out there that can assist or who has had the same fault and managed to find the remedy…
I find it very odd that your ‘garage guy’ should suggest that you go onto the owner’s club forum to see if anyone can advise on your fault and the parts needed to cure it - presumably he is not a Mazda expert or dealer then…
Having said that, I’m sure someone on here will be able to help - they’re a wonderfully knowledgeable bunch.
I personally would be worried about letting anyone but a trained Mazda main dealer chappie repair your car - always go to an expert.
Sorry, but I cannot actually help you - I just drive the things !
I would also check the connectors in the loom going to the sensor/motor and control box, as a bad connection can cause the same reports. Also if you have the add-on in-line upgrade for open/close on the move (I forget the name), sometimes these might have a problem.
Some Servisol 10 Contact Cleaner can work miracles!
I also have a PRHT and fortunately never had any problem with it, fingers crossed. The device that RichardFX refers to is the SmartTOP which enables one touch opening & closing amongst other things. There is a fair bit on this forum about the strange problems they can cause.
