Hi I had a similar situation with my previous car, I knew it had a full dealer service history but the one previous owner had lost the documentation book in a house move.
So what I did was email all the dealers in his local area, including the one on the MOT certificate. After a week or so I had a few emails back and managed to piece together the history. I be careful of contacting owners directly as you might get people quoting data protection at you.
See how you get on with the dealers first.
Good luck
Just after Mk3 was introduced Mazda started the electonic system to recorder services on those cars and other garages can get free access to that system. On the earlier cars I’m not aware that Mazda had their dealers enter service details electronically to some collective system, others like Robbie Roadster may be able to comment.
Therefore unless the previous owners can advise what services have been done it may be better to bite the bullet and do a full 54,000 mile serices as that includes the full nine yards.
Oh and sorry I just noticed that was your first post, so welcome to the forum.
You might want to consider changing your forum name if that is your actual email address just in case a spammer finds there way in here.
Apart from the Digital Service Record (DSR), there is no database held by Mazda of a cars service history that was carried out at franchised dealers. You can contact your local Mazda dealer and they will be able to check for you. There was a system that dealers used to be able to use, before the introduction of DSR to record work carried out but this has not been used for a long time now though and even when it was active I don’t think dealers used it very much. I don’t think the system is live any more.
Aside, this does highlight a benefit of the sometimes critisised DSR system.
Thanks for the welcome. Yes I tried to change username but not sure how:?
Hi and welcome
2 links here,
for getting the previous owners by post (not tried this) https://www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-information-from-dvla
and getting the full MOT history and mileage online (the V5 doc number they want is the one halfway down the front page not top right), https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history-vehicle
Hi and welcome.
Welcome, I also recently bought a 1.8 mk2.5 with missing service book, the first 2letters of the reg show where the car was registered, this helps to find the local dealer. Mine was Leeds , they had record of doing the services in 2004 & 2005, luckily car had a service sticker in window to trace most recent history. Like you say dvla can supply previous owner info, think v888 form, was £5 worth trying.
So as an update, I had a bit of a result today in that a call to a dealer in Blackburn resulted in a history covering 25k to 54k, with the car serviced pretty much every 6k. Good news is also that the 54k service has been done with timing belt and all the trimmings.
Very very pleased and makes the little car an even better buy.
Sun out here, so Im offski
