I have a mk3 roadster 2007 which does not have fog lamps although I like to retro fit a pair in the bodywork sockets. I’ve seen a kit frm MX5 parts for about £200 but I’m not very handy and unable to fit them myself, even though I’m told it’s quite straightforward. Does anyone know a reliable firm to fit these in the Suffolk area or do I have to go to my main dealer and pay top dollar? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Hi.
For the jobs I can’t do myself I use BC Cars in Haverhill.
No car companies make their own lights as they buy them in from the likes of Depo or Cibie, so the trick is to buy them from whoever doesn’t add 500% to the price.
I fitted a new pair to my 2.5 Sport and found them on eBay for £25 a pair advertised to fit a Citroen Xsara Picasso made by Depo. Beware there’s two types.
There are all sorts on eBay, OE fogs, daylight LED’s, combined fog and DRL’s, OE with LED bulbs, all between £21 to £49 for a pair.
I note you have a Mk3 so things may be slightly different and you may need the carriers and a switch in the cabin.

Any garage would be able to fit them. All the electrical connections are already there.
I fitted fog lights to my old NC1 and have just done the same on the new to me NC3.5. Both have ‘halo’ DRL’s built in too! All the wiring is there in place on the car for the fogs but you will need the following,
- Replacement light stalk with front fog switch incorporated
- Replacement aftermarket male / female plug & sockets or crimp bullet connectors
- a couple of short lengths of cable to get from one side to the other if using DRL's
- The fog/DRL light units
- DRL control module.
Controller,
Lights,
Switch,
I also fitted the chrome bezels to finish them off on the NC1.

There’s always this.

Many thanks for all the helpful replies and photo. Will folloup asap. best wishes, Gerald.
Sorry Barrie, couldn’t resist…
Followed your links to the lamps and controller and found the controller apparently has a useful bonus. I quote from the website:
‘when the engine is started, the daytime running lights turn on automatically. When the engine is flame, the daytime running lights turn off with the delay of 15s’
Hm, I think I’d spot the smoke before noticing the lights were on …

You’ve got to love these Chinese/English translations! I did read that bit in the description and tried to ignore it!
Happy to say, everything works well (so far)
The 15s delay is more like, at least, a minute too!

Glad i used the Forum search function before posting my own thread. I was even going to use the same heading
The Blanks in my bumper are bugging me so need to be filled with some functioning lights.
I want to use the combined DRL and fogs though, although mostly for the DRL’s… I was driving a Bright Red 4x4 as my daily driver before i got my little dark Stormy Blue MX-5 so do feel a little low & ‘un-noticed’ out there some days…
I bought a pair of new foglights on the internet and had them fitted by BC motors in Haverhill. All perfect. Have booked a service and MOT with Cleverley’s at Stradbroke nearby (see website) who seems to be an MX5 specialist as he’s got about ten in his yard!
All you need now is the chrome trim rims to finish them off !
