Retrofit central locking to a NA - simple?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 1992 NA
  2. I’m based near: Basingstoke
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: central locking

Don’t currently have any sort of central locking system on the car, it’s one of those things I’ve obviously taken from granted!

Found this kit on eBay - has anyone fitted one or similar and is it doable for a home spanner monkey without too much problem?
Any other kits recommended or just leave well alone?

The kit doesn’t look to be complete guess that additional wiring would be required and it looks like it’s for a 4 door car. Universal to me means lots of settling to make it fit much better to buy a kit designed for your vehicle. I’d also be wary of the price and the seller, kit looks to cheap and the feedback seems to suggest the seller is in Germany not London or Aberdeen as their ebay ad suggests.

Settling should read fettling

Personally I wouldn’t bother on a mk1, the boot can’t be opened without the key or from inside the car, and they are so small you can reach over to the passenger door. On a 25+ yr old car it’ll be one more thing to go wrong!

Yes, i tends to agree. It’s definitely not on the top priority list of things to do.
I wasn’t sure about the kit, almost looked too simple - and it was!
