Rf Window/Glass

2 weeks ago took my RF to have window tints fitted.

It wasn’t obvious at the time, but after a week of giving them a chance to ‘settle’ it was blindingly obvious it was a bad job.

I showed pictures to the tint shop, who agreed it was substandard, and offered me in to have it replaced.

Unfortunately, I don’t think they too much care in removing the bad tint, as doing so, they have stripped off the conductive lines of the heated window in multiple places.

I pointed this out to them. It was only at this point, I was told that this work always carry’s such a risk. But that my demister would still function, despite the lines not being completely filled in. Which I know to be false, and I did argue that this was incorrect. Let’s remember, no risk of damage was highlighted before the removal of the tint started, they just got right at it.

In the end, after me having to really stress my dissatisfaction, I left with a full refund (which really wasn’t easily forthcoming) but obviously my demister will be non functional.

The more I think about it, the more and more angry I am. Ideally I should expect them to replace my rear glass.
I am thinking about building up the courage to pursue this. Although he thinks I’m ‘happy’ with just the refund. I only reluctantly accepted this so I could quickly leave the awful awkwardness of it all.

I will look into asking Mazda, but thought I’d share this with the forum and ask her. Any estimates how much a replacement screen might cost, and how easy/difficult it might be to carry out?

I should be demanding fitting as well, but this might be easier to get over the line if I’m not asking for expensive labour also. Or what do you all think?

It’s common pratice in the motor trade NOT to use window tint or stickers over heated rear screens. You may find it hard to get it replaced as you took the refund. Then thought about replacement glass you need to get legal advice on this.

You may be able to fix it wuth conductive paint and masking tape if there are only a few breaks.

Speak with Auto Glass and they would be your best bet as the “Vast Majority” of dealers/insurance companies and Jo public would use them anyway.
Or try and source a second hand one through the normal channels.
You might just have to suck it up for your own mind sake.
Just an opinion, (you did ask). :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

Common practice? 90% OEM cars come out the factory with b pillar and behind tints, These arent smoked any more. The issue i think from personal experience its the wrong tint or wrong application for the window. To the original poster? was it a back street tint shop or a retail sector? Ive had mine done all round and after a week the lad gave me a little squigdy to run around. He tore my back window first time he also mentioned he hates mazdas due to shape and access
