'Ride in a Supercar', Dunsfold Aerodrome - 16th May 2010

A friend of mine from Petrolhead Nirvana is running the above event and has asked me to post it here as I am sure some of you would like to attend it. I am on holiday on that date so unfortunately can’t co-ordinate it but he will be happy to answer any questions. Details as follows:

This is the second year of our Charity ‘ride in a supercar’ event at Dunsfold Aerodrome (the Home of BBC’s top gear)

Petrolhead Nirvana are working alongside Club Scuderia to raise money for The Children’s Trust charity.
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/ Which provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injury

The format is simple;

We’ve got 80 supercars of various descriptions from Atoms to Zondas giving up their time, fuel and tyres.
The public pay £20 in exchange for 2 high speed passenger laps of the oval configuration (cant do the figure of 8 as we will have 12 cars out at once which could be interesting at the crossover!) or up to £50 for blue ribband cars such the Ferrari Enzo.
Add in a number of carefully selected car clubs to display their cars (at a reduced entry rate of £7 per car instead of £7 per person) and

Further add in more things to do for adults and kids;
Driver training circuit
Caterhams taking passengers for drifting and donuting
Helicopter rides
Live bands
A myriad of stands and stalls
Bouncy castles
Fairground rides
Fire engine and Double decker bus rides
Roary the racing car
Static plane displays
Great food

A quick video of some of the highlights from last year

We had around 4,000 people at the event last year and this year we’re aiming for double that

Obviously the more people we get to come along to the event the more fun everyone will have and the more money we can raise for The Children’s Trust. So spreading the word about the event would be very helpful indeed.
All of us at Petrolhead Nirvana are giving our time and efforts for free and the company is paying for the event liability insurance as well as covering design costs for any media – so as you can see this is in no way a commercial event.

I’m also in charge of organising the car club static displays and would love to have you guys along.
I’ll need an idea of numbers I’m happy to coordinate the group, and organise details – unless someone on the forum wants to take charge of that aspect.

Car clubs get a discounted entry to the event at £7 per car as opposed to £7 per person, the reason we are charging is simply because this is a charity fundraising event and the costs to put it on need to be covered, plus £7 is not a lot for a family day out with the attractions above!
The link to book car club tickets is here…
you can also book rides in the cars on track, the driver training and Caterham area online (and it’s best to do so in advance as we envisage the bulk of these attractions will be sold out on the day)
the link for that is here (you wont need to buy a general entry ticket as your car club pass will take car of that)
Car club display cars will need to be at the venue by around 8.30am and will have a dedicated space available to them, the size will depend on numbers.
You will be free to put up a stand, gazebo and banners for your club in the club area, bear in mind you will be on a section of the runway so it will be hard standing for all cars.

If you do have any questions please feel free to ask on the forum and Harsh will be along to answer them.

A quick update on Dads Day out.

We have over 500 cars on static display from a variety of
different owners clubs so thank you to everyone who is coming down.

We have added a few more attractions to the day and there
are still more coming all the time.

So as it stands, in addition to the Supercar rides, we have;

3 driver training areas

            1. the
Caterham drift experience, you can be a passenger in a Caterham as they drift
and donut around a specially designated circuit

            2. The
Performance driver training area, take the wheel of your own car with a
Roadcraft instructor next to you to hone
and enhance your skills, a must for anyone with a performance car, it’s the
only performance enhancement you take with you whatever car you drive!

            3. The new
drivers training area. Anyone from the age of 14 upwards can take the wheel of
specially modified cars to have their first experience of driving on a private
road within the Dunsfold complex. Highly trained instructors will ensure the
first experience of driving is a positive one. This is also open to those who
simply want to brush up their skills

So
it’s shaping up to be a great day, we’ve all worked really hard to make this
day as fun as we can and of course to raise as much as we can for The
Children’s Trust. Thank you again for all the help and support, just by turning
up you’re helping to make all our efforts worthwhile.

We’re
still adding stands and stalls to the day so if anyone has a related product
and would like to take a stand please contact me and I will put you in touch
with the contact at The Children’s Trust

Important note, The display pass tickets will only be available to buy online until 3pm on Friday. You will not be able to purchase them on the day.
