The brake kit fits under 17" wheels, just thought someone would find it an alternative.
Ive had the kit fitted for over 7 years and handles a track session with ease.
Update:
I’ve bought a set of PBS track front pads, but nobody including PBS themselves have PBS rears in stock
The suppliers I contacted offered me PBS race rears as an alternative.
Please can I have some suggestions for a decent set of rear pads for my next Ring trip?
PS I also bought a set of Mtec grooved and dimpled rear discs to match the grooved and dimpled discs I already have on the front.
I’ve used the Mtec crossed drilled discs (front & rear) on my other toy , Merc C320 CDI running hybrid turbo , map , etc etc 300bhp / 475 lb ft.
Used Brembo pads, well impressed with disc, good wear and solid performance stopping wise , especially as the Merc is around 1500kg
So I’ve bought a set of PBS Track pads front and rear, and one litre of their 660 race fluid.
Also bought a pair of Mtec grooved and dimpled discs to match the fronts.
Looking forward to seeing how they perform
Had the protracks out on a big track for the first time today, very, very impressed. No dramas on cold laps, excellent power on fast laps, not too hot, not even dusty. And little sign of wear (which, admittedly, means they’ve probably taken a chunk off the discs, but hey, normal logic is reversed when your pads cost £200). I’m not fast, so I can’t say they’ll work for the really quick guys but they’re easily the best I’ve had, including the bigger brembos on my subaru.
(my mate literally set his Impreza’s brakes on fire! Mind you last time we were at the same track he exploded a disc and I went through a full set of ebcs in a day)
That’s good news, sounds like you had an enjoyable session and thanks for adding this info to the thread.
Just a side question, what discs do you have (solid or drilled etc)?
Another side question, what about noise or vibration, both on the track plus to and from?
I have used PBS Pro Race pads on track for years. Great pads.
@bainbrigge, mtec on both ends, IIRC fronts are grooved and dimpled, rears are drilled (cos they were out of stock of dimpled). Yeah I know, it doesn’t do anything and drilled literally just makes the discs worse but I’ve been a sucker for a pretty pattern drawn on a disc all the way back to Braking waveys on the motorbike
They’re a bit “scrapey” feeling and sounding at lower speed, and are a bit more abrupt than I really like on the road, but nothing problematic. I think I’m very used to my mellow “fast road” setups which have really civilised road manners, these are fine but do just surprise me a little every time I swap cars. I’m not sure I’d want to do an icy commute with them!
@Northwind Thanks for that info, and it does tally with what others have said about them being a bit noisy but great on the track. Also heard other say they do have more bite than required on the road, but there has to be a trade off somewhere.
I have mtec grooved and dimpled discs on the front and when I fit these new pads I’ll also be fitting grooved and dimpled on the back.
They just look good
