Rocker cover powder coating

Hi Can anybody recommend where I could get my rocker cover powder coated in the South Wales area, or maybe is it worth having it chrome plated which would be the best option.

I just used Plasticote; perfectly resilient. I hear powdercoating isn’t as tough as some might think.

Pity you aren’t near Norwich, I could’ve recommended a couple of decent powder coaters.  I had mine done last year and am really happy with the finish.

Never had a problem with powdercoating, really hard finish that resists knocks far better than a painted finish would. Four motorcycles had frames, wheels and engine parts powdercoated and they still looked good years later. One bike was sold after 7 years, another 10 years.

I wouldn’t recommend chrome plating aluminium parts, it never really lasts and is hard to do well. Kawasaki (as well a several other motorcycle companies) used to do a chrome plated finish on alloy engine casings, within a few years the plating would start flaking off. A friend has a 30 year old Z1300 with this problem.

You could also try polishing the rocker cover, but it will mean you have to keep on polishing it to maintain the finish.

Thanks both I’ll look at both options.

Here is the machine polished alternative…
