roddisons 185 BHP power upgrade..

Hello,

Has anyone had experience of the Roddisons 185bhp mk3 power upgrade.

Just wondered what anyone thought of it, and more importantly how loud is it

I would like an improved sound along with performance, but don’t want something that you can’t live with, especially on longer trips to europe.

Had considered the bbr180 package, which gives you the option of sport silencer, or quieter touring silencer… But they are further from me, and importantly more expensive.

Any and all information is much appreciated.

Many Thanks

Kind Regards

I have that kit on my car along with the quiet back box, very happy with the package.

Managed 8 track days this year & car has been faultless.

Hello

I’ve had the Roddison 185 bhp conversion/upgrade fitted to my Mk3 2 litre Sport for 6 months.

The upgrade consists of a Racing Beat 4 into 2 into 1 stainless steel manifold, this replaces the

restrictive O/E manifold/cat.  The stainless steel centre exhaust section houses a 200 cell cat.

Now the important bit, fit a KING COBRA back box then you will get a sensible sports car sound.

Clive at Autotronix does the re-map, I had my car re-mapped to give the maximum torque at the

lowest rpm possible, OK I only have 180 bhp but the car has a very positive throttle response & pulls

well from 2.3k+ rpm.

Paul & Clive both took time to answer my questions & gave sound advice.

Thanks G40Steve and Keith,

didn’t realise there was an option to have a quieter back box with the upgrade, presumably thats in the price…Cheers again for your help.

i have one of these also

Is your car now able to pass an MOT? I’ve been looking for a 4-1 header and I wasn’t sure if the lack of a first cat would cause issues for an MOT, sure it might pass emissions, but would the lack of that first cat might cause a fail? I want more power, but I use the car as a DD so I want it road legal at the same time.

My car lost it’s first cat when it had the BBR manifold fitted and has passed its MOT with no problems so I doubt you’d have any issues
