Ronal Wheels

Wow, I’m quite surprised at the depth of feeling on this! It’s funny because I have a totally different take. To me, I think roadsters, regardless of their age, have a classic timeless feel to them so you can get away with things that you maybe wouldn’t on other modern cars. The alloys I’ve picked aren’t trying to be ‘oldie worldie’ as such, they’re more of a modern take on an old favourite. I could understand the concerns if I’d picked proper spoke wheels.
As regards the cleaning issue, tbh, because of where I’m parked- right next to a blummin’ bus stop :see_no_evil::rofl:- and the fact that the car’s black, I feel as though I spend more time cleaning the car than driving it as it is :joy::joy::joy: To be fair, I already clean my alloys regularly anyway so this honestly does not phase me at all. I actually quite enjoy detailing, in fact.
To the question as to why spend the money when the stock wheels are perfectly adequate? Simple. Because I want to :woman_shrugging:
Am definitely going to go with the two-tone black & silver- am very much sold on them, I’m afraid :joy:

If it’s an all year round car, don’t go for lacquered wheels, they will only last 2 years before the lacquer starts bubbling.
If you must, protect them with a ceramic wheel coating, and only ever wash them with soapy water, not wheel cleaner chemicals.
I think you said you park in the road, so everytime the gritter goes past they will get salted, not ideal.
Why not get the venture alloys refurbed and fit Michelin PS4?

Hi there, I have a black NB with some black wheels with summer tyres and some silver wheels with winter tyres . I think it looks better with the black but it’s all down to personal preference

This is where Photoshop is really handy. Personally I use Paint Shop Pro but it 's essentially the same thing.

Using cut & paste from the website images with a bit of skewing to adjust for viewing angle you can get a fair idea what the new wheels will look like on your own car. I did this for the first 5 that I owned which was a mk 2.5 …

Original:

Choice was between black + red bead (which is what I fitted):

Or red + polished :expressionless:

And the mk 3.5 I currently own. This is just tweaking the colour of the existing wheels. The car is going to the wheel specialist shop on Monday to have the wheels stripped, blasted and refurbished in gloss black and the callipers painted red.

As they are now:

Use smart selection to pick out detail & then adjust colour>brightness & saturation to simulate black. It isn’t perfect but it gives you a fair idea. … try before you buy
