…you may find the heated screen connectors are also different? We had a mk1 with a hard top and kept the hard top when we changed to a mk2. The Hardtop fitted perfectly but they had changed the plug that goes into the heated screen so assume it would be the same for the soft top as well?

Possibly pretty simple.
The very expensive Prestige Hoods Mk1 hood & frame I’m having fitted soon was 6 months old, essentially brand new, and bought very cheaply off an accident scrapper. It happens…we don’t know. 
If you have a MK2 complete on the frame? Then you need nothing extra. The wiring for the heated screen will need to be made up but the roof fits.
