If you put a tow bar on you could always spalsh out on a Thule easy box.
A tow bar is also useful for bike racks too.
If you go the tow bar route be warned, to buy the tow hitch and ball comes to about (£150) found an offer on a state side web site model for mine was ( curt 11755 ) The cost came when importing to this bloody country, Delivery was about £200 then got stung for import duty for an other £55 that Fed Ex kindly paid then billed me for 2 weeks later.
So not a cheap item BUT now camping holidays are back on and if need be a bike rack can be fitted and if the trailer is not the size of a small caravan it will not affect the cars speed / acceleration or fuel much…
Do take into account the trailer weight vs car weight. Permissable tow weight is not the same. If you cock it up you will get into the tail wagging the dog situation.
