Royal Steering Wheels

Hi All,

Just been to visit Royal Steering Wheels for a refurb of my NC 2011 Steering Wheel. I found the standard wheel a bit thin and started looking for a replacement, which was difficult as I wanted one which was compatible with my button controls and airbag.

After rejecting that idea I started to search for businesses which could re-trim mine how I wanted. I stumbled across Royal Steering Wheels and was happy to see that they could deliver exactly what I needed. After seeing one good review after the next on various car forums I called them and booked mine in. These are the results.

I am very happy with the results and recommend Jack, top chap!

Cheers.

Looks good. If you don’t mind asking - was it expensive. Looking to sort my Mono steering wheel on my Mk 1.

Cheers. I thought it was good value compared to buying a new one. I paid £145 (£50 down and £95 once fitted by Jack) & had the option of leather or alcantara with any colour stitching.

Thank you - very interested.

Interesting. I’d agree that the standard wheel is too thin.

There’s a guy on Miata forum acting as an ‘agent’ for Guardian designs. He gets standard steering wheels retrimmed by someone in Poland. d-shapes various leather options etc etc. started with Mk3’s but I think now doing or close to doing them for MK1/2’s. They don’t use your wheel just source a standard one themselves then retrim it to your requirements. Seems to have lots of very happy customers and has shipped to the UK.

I’d say that’s worth the money, looks really nice. Much nicer than standard

congrats!

I got my Mk2 steering wheel re-trimmed by Royal Steering Wheels last year. Similar style to the OP here but with black stitching. I had actually bought a secondhand replacement steering wheel and sent that off to be re-trimmed so I could still use the car then fitted myself (dead easy). Paid £100 if I recall and job done in less than a fortnight. Super service from Jack and excellent workmanship. Would definitely recommend.

managed to get out in mine yesterday, the wheel is so much better, nicer to hold & look at, softer & with much more grip, I am very happy with the result.

Hi there,

Do you have any pictures of your mk2 one? I am considering getting mine done, and I like the idea of making it a bit thicker

Cheers
