I have just bought a 1.6 Phoenix which has come with a rubber ducktail spoiler which is believed to be taped to the boot. It’s pretty well stuck on and I was wondering what the most effective way of removing it would be without damaging the paint work. Many thanks in anticipation

WD40 is known to soften glue, need to get it under the leading edge of the spoiler.

Have you checked the underside of the boot lid to make sure the spoiler is not bolted on?
Richard.
As above and leave it in full sun before removing, this will soften glue on the tape holding it. Then you could try something like nylon fishing line to work it under the spoiler to break the seal.
Tar and glue remover will work alongside the fishing line as mentioned above. I remember doing the same to my mates old VW took ages to get the horrible thing off. just be patient with it dont try rip it off.
Also heat gun or hair dryer will soften the plastic and the glue making everything a tad more flexible.
Many thanks, I’ll try your suggestions and see how I get on ???
