Steve & Teresa will lead the SW and Western group from Caras up to Lynmouth (if the weather is good) via the A396 to Tiverton, onto Bampton and then onto the B3223 to Dulverton, Simonsbath and then Lynmouth. There is ample parking round the bay by the Cliff railway (which won't be running). There are pubs and cafes in Lynmouth which will be open. The tide would be on its way out at 2pm.
Alternatively if the weather is poor we could take the shorter route from Bampton continuing on the A396 up to Minehead and park at the station car park. Again there are pubs, cafes and restaurants nearby.
After Lynmouth or Minehead (depending which route had been chosen) Murray & Anette will lead the group to Bridgwater along the A39 coast road passing Williton, Dunster Castle in the distance etc.
Hopefully leave Cara's at 11.30 or 12pm to reach Lynmouth around 13.15 or 13.45. Lynmouth to Bridgwater would take around 1hr 30mins.
Thank you Steve and Teresa for organising today’s run.
The weather was very kind allowing us to travel “tops down” from Cara’s to Lynmouth.
A few amendments to the route along the way made no difference to everyone’s enjoyment and were to be expected after Storm Angus!
Great to see so many SW and Western members join us for breakfast followed by the run - through at times a waterlogged landscape.
With the river Exe in flood it was an entertaining drive seeing the power of nature - from a safe distance of course!
A belated thank you to Steve and Teresa for their adopting the run to Lynton with the Western group and for managing to avoid the floods and provide a great route.
