  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: General rust repair and prevention and front chassis rail corrosion to be fixed or replacement done.

Hi,
I know of the mx5 specialists in Brighton but am looking for any recommendations closer to home if anyone has had recent chassis work on thier car in cambs / norfolk area.

As others will probably suggest MCR / Thrussington just outside of Leicester - I used them earlier this year for my NBFL chassis rails and some rear arch rust and was happy with the price and quality of the work (in so far as you can tell). My bother’s likewise rusty NBFL is off there next week for rust repairs based on my experience. Another MX5 specialist had my car up on their ramp post repair (they do the mechanical stuff on my car) and they said the repairs looked OK to them (I specifically asked what they thought). Not too far from you too.

Just make sure the repairer is an experienced coded welder , a lot of weld repairs in images on mx5 chassis are very poor , no penetration at all, the welds are just blobbed on top then ground up . There is no strength in these weld in a very important area
