Uncovered the NC today from it’s winter slumber and noticed that the drivers door is covered in small bubbles. Is this a common issue with these cars? The rest of the body looks fine but now I’m worried that is the beginning of the end!
I’d say it’s unusual. Some reports of micro blisters on rear deck covers of some PRHT models but that’s not a metal part IIRC Door may have been refinished at some point (unless you’re original owner and know different) this maybe a paint ‘reaction’.
Or, as Warbird rightly pointed out, covers can cause problems, potentially. Rust has appeared around side indicators on front wings before, on panels though (like doors) it usually starts at the edges where paint is thinner.
Covered up inside or outside? Is the garage well vented, bit more info as it could be as said the paint bubbling due to damp/ciculation problems or the lacquer that’s known to peel on the NC.
It’s outside, at the side of my house. Doesn’t see much sun down there in the winter, so I can imagine it might hold the damp under the cover.
Think I’ll Ditch the cover and allow the car to breathe! Didn’t know that covers could be a bad thing. I imagine the door is buggered now though, there’s two large patches of blisters.
A half cover may be better just protecting the hood, after all the rest of the car is like any other. My daily driver has never seen a garage or cover it gets used of course but not every day.
I have a few of these on my bonnet and the PRHT. I agree I dont think they are rust but also dont think they are poor repair work due to where they are on my PRHT.Strange thing is they seemed to appear over night and only noticed them the one and only time I used works super powerful pressure washer. It’s like they are water blisters they are so perfectly formed and on my bonnet run in a exact semi circular pattern. They have been like this for 14 months with no more forming or growing in size.
