Rust prevention products

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC3
  2. I’m based near: Moray Scotland
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on:

My 2010 MX5 NC3 has been udersealed to an extent by the previous owner(s) and is starting to flake off showing rust underneath so I want to strip as much off as I can and do as decent a rust prevention job as I can without going over the top. For the last 5 months since Ive owned it. Ive kept away from wet roads and definitely salty ones, but would like it protected for next year in all weathers.

I have seen on another popular NC forum the following products to be applied to the underneath once the old underseal and rust has been removed.

Buzzweld rust encapsulator zinc primer
Corralles glass reinforced paint
Buzzweld WAR underseal
Eastwood seam sealer
Buzzweld cavity paint
Bilt hamber dynax S 50.

I gather these are the top of the range products and would welcome any comments the group may have on any or all of them and if any less expensive products are as good

I can work out the purpose of all except the last one, Bilt hamber dynax S 50. Has anyone used it and where would it be used for.

Thank you.

I guess you have but this page explains it.

As linked by Reggie, for cavities.

So would you use S 50 as well as buzzweld cavity paint in cavities or just one of them ?

Looks like the buzzweld product is a rust converter to be followed up after a suitable period with the Dynax cavity wax.

Yes that is correct

Get onto the Dinitrol website, they do undersealing kits, assuming you want to do it yourself. After removing lose rust a scale apply the RC900 rust converter followed by the 4941 underseal and spraying the ML, using the long nozzle, into concealed areas and box sections. They all come in aerosol cans.
The secret is getting the preparation right which can take a while and will involve removing all the plastic liners to the underside of the car and the wheel arches.
