Rust protection Mk3

I’ve just had some minor body work done and an inspection show my 2006 mk3 looks fine but should I consider under protection and if so what product is recommended and how easy is it to do myself.
Thanks

You’ll get loads of advice here (and on FaceBook from Anand Vaid)
Basically tis a waste of time splatting anything on top of old underseal, esp if there are bits where it is rough at the edges and rust is already creeping under it.
Inside chassis is essential and door BUT the worst bit on Mk3 is the fronts of the rear wheel arches.
Trust me, I know!

Thanks. It seems at the moment I don’t have any signs of it, just being over cautious I suppose. One to monitor.

Over cautious is just about cautious enough! I had similar to above on both sides which I uncovered whilst applying underseal. I cut out and put new metal about 10in up either sill from the wheel arch.

I knew from tattered edges that there was some rot, I just didn’t know how much.

Great to hear yours is looking tidy, getting it protected before anything happens should be priority.

I used Lanoguard myself and found it easy to use, if just a bit messy

What ever you use make sure you can spray it inside the box/tube sections, preferably a rust converting/stabilizing type compound.

So many box sections :sob:

I have found the lower box sections on the sill and chassis rails to be the most important to treat. You can see the rust through the lower access hole but not higher up.
