Rust remover you've had results with, undercoat, small wing hole patcher & preferred tool for RR

re under car:

seen some posts giving examples of products to help with rust removal and undercoating afterwards. but the posts arent recent and obviously new products come along. anyone have suggestion for a treatment you’ve found works well and also an undercoating product you’ve found to be beneficial.

i had undercoating done a few years ago, definitely made a difference. i dont recall the product name, it was one of the wax ones, came in like a cube and the person had to melt it with hot water, then he applied it with a spray.

have a small hole about the size of a 50p in one of the rear wings near the base of the car from before i bought it. someone did a pretty good job filling it in years ago, but the paint was starting to look kinda bubbly, so gonna do it again. any recommendations for a filler.

anyone used any of these cans:

JENOLITE Anti-Rust Primer Spray Paint | 400ml
JENOLITE Rust Shield Clear Lacquer Spray | 400ml
JENOLITE Waxoil Rust Prevention & Protection Aerosol Spray | 500ml
or any Jenolite product for this purpose

i’ve used JENOLITE Rust Converter liquid and JENOLITE Rust Remover liquid on other areas of the car for a while and found them to be superb at a very reasonable price.

but i’m always looking for anything i haven’t seen that might be better and cheaper.

thanks

What you need to do is remove all the rust first rather than relying on converter type products. This will probably make the hole a lot bigger and tricky to repair at home.
Do you have a picture of the area?

I used a wire brush to get the surface rust off then rusto black spray paint then lanoguard top that up every 6 months or so and its all good

I’ve used Hammerite Kurust for years and have always been pleased with the results. As already said you need to remove loose rust first.

thank you for excellent replies and yes you are all correct, i should have made clear, i absolutely spend ages getting the rust off first with brushing. when writing, it was like 3am and i could barely keep my eyes open, hence the increased size of the font lol. didn’t mean to do that. i’ll shrink it down again cos it looks weird.

Great results with …
Buzzweld products on my NC 1

5yrs down the line and no sign of any issues on my rear arches that were treated.
May I add the car is still under ‘restoration’ and arches have only been treated and not top coated, car stored in unheated block garage at bottom of garden.
