Hi, I’m a new member and I’ve had the Recaro in Ceramic since August last year. I have noticed that the valves on all the alloys are very rusty and there is some rust dirt on the on the inside of a couple of the alloys,
I’ve read a couple of topics where some owners have had the same issue etc. Before I speak to my dealer I wanted to see how this was dealt with.
I was especially curious re the rust powder on the alloys…is that normal ![]()
There was a thread some time back where Gibbo78 had a similar problem. I understand he got Mazda replacements fitted by the dealer but the same problem arose with them so I believe he ordered some from NickD, our tyre expert which the dealer fitted. I might be worth sending a PM to those guys for more info… Hope this helps!
I suspect the rust spots on the wheels is from the brake pads. My valves have not gone rusty yet!
Thanks for the responses…I will have a look Gibbo78 and GM him.
On a separate note…
BLUEAgave …How do you find the exhaust noise with the BBR? for me I would like a bit more grunt from my exhaust.
If you go for the Supersport with the rest of the system standard then it adds a nice sporty sound without be too loud. Highly recommended!
I spoke to BBR today about their exhaust and will be placing my order for one. Saw the video and it sounds amazing for £500.??
Oops forgot to add…Spoke to my dealer about the valves and they’ve send a report to Mazda. The dealer didn’t think they would do anything about it!!! I was not impressed and told them as much.
I would suggest you kill the rust on the valves with hydrate 80 or similar and then add a protective coat. Alloy wheels obviously don’t rust so I imagine the rust staining on the alloys may originate from the valves. Can’t believe Mazda use ferrous valve bodies - all the old bangers I own have rubber coated brass valve bodies for reasons obvious to all.
The alternative is firstly to find valves that are better and then pay at least £10 a wheel to get them fitted.
Hopefully Mazda will take the matter seriously but the car is so new that they may try to say you are one of only a few who have reported the problem.
Yes my valves look exactly the same as in the photo on the link. I am a bit worried as it seems the replacements by Mazda aren’t any good either??, I’m still awaiting an update from my dealership.
Hi All,
Mazda have contacted the dealer and ask them to replace my valves, the interesting part is the service chap said it’s a completed different part number to what he has ordered previously so hopefully the new ones won’t rust as well.
