S2000 anybody

Hi all,

Took a photo of my my newly purchased Harvard after a good wash and polish in the good weather last weekend. I was struck (in my colour anyway) how much the car looks like a Honda S2000. Anybody else noticed the resemblance?

From the side view I see almost a Barchetta profile which I don’t see in other colours such as BRG.

No. Lotus Elan yes but not the Honda. A tour de force of engineering the S2000 may be but the looks are not for me. Just saying…

Well, the inferred inspiration for the Mk1 did come form Colin Chapman’s finest…and to me it shows.

Honda? If anything a pocket Fezza Daytona if you screw your eyes up in thick fog at 400 paces after 8 pints & 6 chasers.

Each their own!

I did actually mean only the rear flanks as seen in the image in my post. Sorry, got to disagree, in that colour from that angle it’s a Honda…

To my eyes the 3/4 perspective of a mk2 looks similar to an S2000, less so a mk1.

Yep!  I can see what you mean, reminds me of one a friend had some 16 years ago.

Hmmmmmm, yes I see the resemblance…

Technically, if there is any resemblnce, then the Honda looks like a Mazda, not the other way round. So, you’re suggesting Honda copied Mazda?

Early versions of the Honda effort earned a reputation as ditch finders.

Funny i too have always thought the S2000 looked like a bigger version of the mx5. I was at one point looking to trade my typeR in for an S2000 but they were so expensive to buy and the running costs were unbelievable. Plus there isnt a lot you can do to them yourself so think the mx5 is a better bet. Cheaper all round and you can fix most things yourself.

Ouch, that’s got to have hurt?

Im suggesting there is a strong resemblance of my mk1 in silver to the S2000. Technically if I’m suggesting anything I would suggest Honda copied Mazda as my car was registered in 1997

i have a friend who had a mint S2000 and traded it for a 3 series convertible a few years back. He moans about it being the worst decision of his life every time I see him. Interestingly he’s not seen my Mazda yet so I’ll let you know his view although he is very bias! ??

I suppose being roadsters of a similar vintage, the NA and the Honda S2000 were bound to be similar looking.  Fashion trends have always been prevalent in car design I’ve always thought anyway.  Personally, I always thought the S2000 was a bit long in the bonnet, and did not have such a ‘balanced’ look as the NA.  Just my opinion of course, and different people are almost bound to see things differently.

To my mind the NA was always a Lotus Elan twenty years on - and a lot more reliable !

Any similarity between the S2000 and Mk1 MX5 is superficial. Might as well say a Z3 looks like a MX5.

Elan v MX5; the MX5 is the Elan if it had been on the pork rinds for 20 years.

S2000 and MX5 rears???

Zero resemblance.

Zero resemblance???

You are having a laugh ?? I
