Sad MX5 story

Hi everyone. I would say I am a new member but I joined last August after having bought a beautiful Pearlescent white mark 4 with only 800 miles on the clock, it still only has 2159. I had a month of really enjoyable driving and then on the 1st September last year had a stroke and was paralysed on my left side and was hospitalised for three months. Progress has been slow and unfortunately if I am to drive again I need to get an automatic. Doubly annoying as I can’t get in or out of the mx5 and so can’t jut get an automatic RF.
i have just realised that I cannot post yet in the buy and sell part of the forum so wondering if some previous posts will allow this.
Perhaps some time in the future I will be in a position to buy another one.

Hope recovery will allow you to get behind the wheel soon. I’ve got an RF Auto - I can recommend it, although at present Mazda aren’t bringing Autos to UK and used they’re not too common. Good luck

Wishing you a speedy recovery and hopefully driving an automatic in future

And you get a buyer to love your beautiful ND as much as you have :smiling_face_with_tear:

Best wishes for your recovery. I know you obviously loved your ND but could you consider an NC PRHT with Powershift auto box? The roof , especially with a Smart roof controller works with just a push on a button and operating the locking latch. All within reach. Just a thought. I assume that a PRHT and Powershift models exist, probably a rare beast. Take care.

Thanks. That is assuming I can get in and out, which I can’t at the moment!

Understandably, this may be a sensitive topic but I remember one ND owner on here regularly has a passenger who uses a lift mechanism seemingly installed in the car, to get into their seat. Looking it up, it appears to be compatible for drivers too. Perhaps something to consider?

OP needs an auto which is only available on the RF. White’s Mazda dealership did import and sell a few Japanese market autos though.

I think David-H was referring to NC.
So something like this

Really sorry to read this, most important thing is you survived. Frustrating and slow though recovery must seem unless you are desperate for the funds and another car it might be worth hanging onto the MX-5 and see how things stand after 12 months, I have seen some amazing recoveries over that time period. Best wishes for a speedy and fullest possible recovery.

Which would be a great incentive to get better more quickly than if you didn’t have the car in your drive saying “drive me, drive me!”. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
