I have purchased an MX5 mk4, and the roof lining has sagged, the car was bought from a Mazda dealer, but having searched on line I noted that this is not a new problem, but I can not find anyone who has cured the problem and it stated that Mazda had no recognised the issue. Os there a solution to the problem does anyoe know.
Thanks
People have got clips from Mazda to hold it in place (Apparently)! I just tucked it back the way it should be (a sort of double fold) when it happened about 3 years ago and so far it’s still in place.
Hi I,
This is a known issue and an ‘official’ fix was issued by Mazda. If it has a warranty take it back and politely ask them to fix it as per Mazdas official bulletin. If you get nowhere let me know and I will try and find the Mazda reference number.
Our car had this issue and the dealer knew exactly what to do and fixed it.

Had it with my ND and I was out of warranty, so bought the clips for £5 and did it myself, a little fiddly but the clips are glued in so should last.
There is a technical bulletin on a previous thread about this that gives clear instructions…
Thank you guys for the advice. I have now spoken to the garage and they are going to sort the roof out… Interestingly my car is a 65 plate and there was also I am told another mod on the roof, does anyone know what it was/is.
Thank you again
There is a problem where the front of the roof when folded down can rub on the back of the rollover bars and wear through because it is touching.
I have found that when putting the roof down if I push down on the back of the roof after it is clicked into place it moves it away from the seatbacks enough not to rub.
Mazda had a “countermeasure” that involved dismantling the bulkhead behind the seats and putting in spacers. I had mine done after a few months and it solved the problem. Unfortunately damage had already been done to the leading edge of the roof so Mazda replaced that as well (under warranty).
