SatNav map update for 2ltr Venture 2013 model

Hi,  Just purchased a 2013 Venture 2ltr with Tom Tom Satnav.  How do I update the maps please?  They are on an SD card.

Secondly, which model of the MX5 do I have, please? 2013 was the change year.

Unfortunately they come from TomTom at an exorbitant price, which is why mine remain out of date.

When you consider the price of a standalone lifetime maps and traffic sat-nav unit the charges for an update are ludicrous.

I like the inbuilt tomtom and use it frequently so I keep it updated, it has the ability to take detailed itineraries which I create for all our local club drives so we don’t have to read the step by step instructions as we drive along.

To answer your question -

You need to install Tomtom Home2 software on your PC / MAC both links are on this page:

https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7448/locale/en_GB

You then create a tomtom account, log on with Tomtom Home2, stick your SD card from the car in the PC and it should recognise it in Tomtom Home2 and you have to add the “device” to your tomtom account.  When you remove the SDCARD from the head unit ensure before you eject it you select “Remove SD Card” on the screen menu.

The model satnav is NVA-SD8110 Live - you can see map prices here
https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/in-dash-navigation/nva-sd8110-live/

The car came with FULL Europe maps but you can save a couple of bob by changing maps from Full Europe to Western Europe or just the UK & NI if you dont drive in Europe.
Map of Europe £50 one off No updates, £60 latest plus 4 further updates (over 12 months), or £70 latest plus 6 further updates (18 months).
Map of Western Europe £45 / £55 / £65
Map of United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland  £35 / £40 / £45

In addition to the map updates, your tomtom has the ability for Live Services - these cost a further £55 per year!!!
before investing in Live check if your inbuilt sim can connect to tomtom servers and has not been disabled.

You could try entering the code 15OFFDISCOUNT  when you go to pay for the maps to get 15% discount (sometimes works or google tomtom discount codes for latest one)

As to your MX5 model -
If your spot light surrounds look like the one in the link below, you have a 3.75 model (NC3).

otherwise it would be a 3.5. (NC2)

Sounds interesting…does this apply to the early Mk4’s that are now over 3yrs old…
