Once again, MX-5s featured strongly in the 2017 SBH HSA Speed Championship. In the 2 litre Roadgoing class (including plenty of Elises) Sandy Smith (Mk3), David Newman (Mk1) and Dean Cubitt (Mk1) took the top three places with Sandy receiving the MX5OC Award as the top scoring MX-5 driver. In the MX-5 Class (on 1A tyres) Ken Morris finally finished on top after 5 years of seconds and thirds. Newcomer, Jon Maycock entered his turbocharged 240bhp Mk1 in the over 2litre Roadgoing class and acquitted himself well against some very rapid Imprezas and Evos taking third.
