Has anyone scrapped a Mk1 Jap import Eunos before? If so what price did you get? Just wondering as im going to be scrapping mine due to the Head Gasket giving up and lack of money/time/interest im not going to fix it. Ive been quoted £140 at the most so far due to it not have a cat converter on it. Any info would be helpful!
break her up as parts, you will make more

You would get more for it selling as a repair. Do not break it.
If you do break it pull it to bits first - if you weigh it in as a whole car you get “steel” value. Some of it is aluminium - I got £7 just for a mk1 bonnet a few weeks ago, and £6 each for some wheels. Various other bits (PPF, cylinder head) are worth removing too. It’s a small proportion of the total car weight, but makes you more money. Removing the wiring loom and getting paid for the copper makes you more money too.
That said - crashing season will be here soon. Bumpers, wings, doors, wheels and suspension will be in demand all winter.
Why not get the head gasket done and sell it as a runner.
I bought a 1.6 Eunos earlier this year was going to use as a daily driver but engine was on it’s way out and possible clutch problems. I had paid £550 for the car it was a nice solid example and it went through it’s MOT with just the brakes needing attention. I knew I could pick up an engine for £200 of ebay and have helped with an engine swap but due to illness I decided to scrap it. I sold the bits for £1200, could have made a lot more but I needed bits for my V8 and I also gave quite a few bits away to friends once I had made my money back. I actually gave the shell away ,which was solid, to someone as a possible project, these are worth at least a couple of hundred pounds if you can find a buyer. I still have quite a few bits left over and a bucket full of nuts/bolts and other bits and bobs. If you have time and space you can easily make £1600+ which is probably more than the car is worth. I recently bought a 1990 Eunos which is a perfect runner for a fraction of that. It is a shame to scrap these cars but lets be realistic about it there’s thousands of them about and if you can make more money by scrapping yours then it makes financial sense to do so. It will be many years before an mx5 is a rare sight on the roads and prices for them start to go up, you can look at it as a service to those who keep theirs the more that are scrapped the rarer they will become and there will be a ton of spares to keep the good ones on the road.

My mk1 was pretty much fit for scrap, rusted sills etc I put it up for sale at £350 and hand 3 or 4 people after it within 12 hours.
